Biography

Kalyn Hartmann – Langley, BC / Langley Secondary
Position: Middle Blocker
Height: 6'2"
Club Team: Team Academy
Schmidt: " Kalyn brings a great mix of physicality, athleticism and versatility to the court. She has played as both a middle blocker and an outside hitter during her high school career and this will allow her to contribute to our team in a multitude of ways. Kalyn is an exceptionally hard worker both on the court and in the classroom and we look forward to having her work ethic in our program for years to come."
 
A native of Langley, Kalyn Hartmann is an honour roll student at Langley Secondary and has served as captain of the volleyball team since grade 8. She was selected as the school's junior girls athlete of the year in 2015 and led her team to the 2016 Fraser Valley Senior AAA volleyball title, where she was also named the MVP.
 
The six-foot-two middle blocker has been a member of the U18 Team BC squad and competed in the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg. With her club team, Hartmann won provincial gold with Team Academy in 2017 and was named to the Volleyball BC all-star team. She intends to pursue a major in Behavioual Neuroscience when she comes to SFU next Fall.
 
"Being able to compete in the NCAA while staying in Canada to get my education was a huge draw to SFU for me," said Hartmann. "The strong academic reputation of the university and the unique and diverse courses that are offered played a big part in my decision making. After attending a summer volleyball camp at SFU, I loved working with the coaching staff and knew they would help me become the best player I could be. Gina is building a great volleyball program and I'm really excited to join the team next year."
