Olé tía, AirEuropa will be flying from Spain into La Romana International Airport twice a week starting this summer 2014.

AirEuropa began operating a weekly direct flight between Madrid and La Romana on the 30th of November 2013, welcoming more visitors into Casa de Campo. However, this summer the prestigious airline has just announcing the addition of another weekly flight apart, departing from La Romana on Mondays at 7:35pm. This will be in addition to the Saturday flights, which already operate and will continue operating departing at 7:35pm as well.

Once in Madrid one is able to connect to as much as 14 other European cities in 10 different countries. Seems like this summer is simply calling for a little European excursion. With the La Romana – Casa de Campo airport just a hop away it is more than a little tempting.

Air Europa uses an Airbus 330-300 to ensure the comfort of its passengers, as it is known to be an excellent plane with wide and spacious interior for them to feel at home all throughout the flight. The plane holds up to 388 passengers.

The additional Monday flights will begin on June 23rd leaving towards the Spanish capital at 7:35pm for a cost of around US$1700 (cost varies upon date chosen). Can you smell the paella, hear the flamenco? I sure can!

US$300 trip to Madrid?

Air Europa

In investigating the prices and flight times for this article we entered into the AirEuropa website (www.aireuropa.com), and saw the advertisement on the right. Clearly rather excited by the prospect of jetting off to Europe for so little, we ran a few searches and the best flight we could find was US$1600, not quiet US$300!??

So in a hope to find this elusive US$300 flight, we posted this image to the AirEuropa Facebook page – and this morning we got the following response:

Buenos días Rebecca.
De Santo Domingo a Madrid por ejemplo, el billete ida y vuelta tiene un precio de 980 dólares más gastos de gestión, disponible a partir del 23 de septiembre; de La Romana a París por ejemplo 1034 dólares más gastos de gestión, disponible en estos momentos desde el 20 de septiembre. Un saludo”
[Good morning Rebecca. From Santo Domingo to Madrid for example, a return ticket costs US$980 plus booking fees, available from the 23rd of September. From La Romana to Paris, for example is US$1034 plus booking fees, available from the 20th of September.]

Which although does give us a cheaper flight option than US$1600, it is still not the US$300 we had hoped for. We will continue hunting and investigating! In the meantime, friends have mentioned that Iberia are starting a new flight from Santo Domingo to Europe in September, and that they may have some cheaper options.
