Just before next week's #Simtec introductory Online Training for optical design, we’ll delve into the history of optics and would love to hear your opinion! 🧐 Alhazen (Ibn al-Haytham) is best known for his monumental work "Kitab al-Manazir" (Book of Optics), which revolutionized the understanding of light, vision, and the formation of images. Through rigorous experimentation and observation, Alhazen explored the principles of optics, including reflection, refraction, and the behavior of light. Isaac Newton conducted groundbreaking experiments with prisms that demonstrated that white light is composed of a spectrum of colors. He developed the theory of color based on the decomposition of light and proposed that light consists of particles (light corpuscles) in his book "Opticks".
