My family had an extremely poor experience here, mainly due to bad customer service and inconsistent standards.
First, be aware that if you're taking public transport, it's a bit of journey. You have to take a train out to the area, then take the blue tram (overpriced tourist trap) or a public bus (your metro pass will include this) to a funicular. Then you have to pay again for the funicular round trip.
But none of that was the issue, it just added to our eventual frustration. The ticket person came out and measured my son because we both knew he was right at 120 cm, which is the cut off for a lot of rides. He measured just barely over 120, and my wife and I both observed this. The ticket person stated he was good for 120. Her English was very good, there was no confusion or misunderstanding on the matter. But then...she sold us the wrong wristband for under 120 cm. We didn't have any idea. She just gave us a wristband for him that was a different color. I just thought it was because he was a kid.
So we ride a couple of rides. The lines were very long and it basically took us 2 hours to ride two rides and buy some yogurt.
So I should mention the park is built on multiple levels and it takes a bit to find your way around, because it's on the side of a mountain.
So now we get to the kids rollercoaster. We wait the requisite 20-30 minutes and get to the front. ***They measure my son again*** and confirm that yes, he is tall enough, but the ticket lady gave you the wrong wristband. They let us ride but said we'd have to go all the way back to the top level to exchange our wristband to ride any more rides like this.
So we walk from the bottom of the park back to the top to get to the ticket office. This takes about 15 minutes. Keep in mind we'll have to walk across the park again to get back.
We wait our turn at the ticket booth. The person at the ticket booth ***measures him again*** and says he is tall enough, but I need your receipt to process the exchange. I have a backpack full of travel stuff and can't find the receipt. "I can't help you without your receipt...you need to go to the info desk and *maybe* they can help you."
So we wait our turn at the information desk. Bear in mind it's getting later with each interaction. The person at the info booth measures him and says, "He's not 120". Probably because he's tired and slouching after so much waiting. So I respond that this is now his fourth measurement and everybody said he was good. "You misunderstood all of those other people" she says. I respond: "So you're saying I misunderstood as I watched him hit each measure with my eyes and when they let him on the rollercoaster?" Her response was pretty much that she didn't care and "too bad". I asked to file a complaint and her attitude turned really salty. I walked.
So now we have an hour trip back into town with a kid that's pissed and sad.
      Summary:
It takes a while to get out there.
We rode 3 rides total over 3.5 hours.
It's overpriced and the rides are nothing special.
You can go for the views and pay nothing for the park.
When it comes to customer service issues, this ranks among the worst I've had.

There's a lot of awesome experiences in Barcelona, skip this one.

One of Barcelona's theme parks that happens to have a bad-rep by locals due to some unfortunate history behind it, BUT don't let that stop you and your family from driving up there! Located at the very op of a mountain is Tibidabo! As soon as you walk out of your vehicle to enter the park you will be greeted in your language by a giant wall of many "welcome" dialects. This park is family-friendly, couple-friendly (but still try not to be too p.d.a) and best of all, tourist-friendly! There are just a few carnival rides for the little ones or almost big ones to enjoy. The best part is yet to come, the view! The view from way up here is amazing! You are able to see all of Barcelona and it's many famous landmarks. Truly beautiful! So bring the camera and take many many pictures!

      "Welcome" in many languages!

I thought it was beautiful the location the park was. Now we just walked around the park but did not ride anything as it was super cold and windy that day. The Sagrat Cor church next to it is a must see and frankly how could you not visit that church when you track up that mountain! The park resturants was a little over priced I'm sure because of the location as there is not much to eat other than the churros and chocolate and fair food. We took the funicular train down and that only added to the pretty views. All in all wonderful to take the kiddos!

      Beautiful!

It made me sad to see some of the negative post about this place however I know that's why we have yelp it's everyone's personal experience and opinions. So please whatever you do don't skip out on this experience. Do take a tour of the church and do hike all the way to to top and look out. You won't be sorry. The view from the top of the tower is so beautiful. Especially on a clear day you can see the mountains the city and the sea. Take a picture when you get to the top so you won't forget the beauty you experienced. Do take note it is windy when you get towards the top. Bring a light coat on cooler days and ladies/gentleman tie up your hair before going up. We did not ride anything at the amusement park but we did enjoy watching others enjoy the park as much as we did. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant as the food is not over the top good but take the bus down to the the first stop there is some great places you can eat there.

The amusement park was not open when we visited so I can't say anything about that. I will say however, if you are limited in time, you can skip this site. Go to Park Guell instead to capture a "birds eye view" of the city.

Tibidabo is not a modern theme park for thrill seeking adrenaline junkies but a historic, quaint funfair with traditional rides and sideshows suitable for young children. It is situated at the top of the mountainous backdrop of Barcelona and therefore enjoys spectacular views across the city. The top of the rickety big wheel is an ideal place to try to snap some pictures of a vista which will definitely impress. The ride up the mountain by funicular is also fun and exceptional on a bright, clear day. The atmosphere is sweet and warm and it is a true pleasure to walk around especially in the blamy Barca summer evenings
