Reggaeton kings Wisin y Yandel launch new album ‘Los vaqueros’

Ian Makinow reports in the examiner.com site.

Reggaeton icons Wisin & Yandel, one of today’s hottest Latin music acts, rolled out their new album “Los Vaqueros” yesterday during a press conference held in a San Juan hotel in Puerto Rico.

The disc, to hit international markets on Jan. 25, features 18 tracks and includes collaborations with Pitbull, Sean Kingston, 50 Cent, T Pain, Tego Calderón and Tito “El Bambino.”

During the event, the powerhouse duo said they opted not to showcase the rookie artists who form part of its record label in the album like in previous works because “we have to sell albums….we can’t have a record label if we don’t sell albums, so this time we wanted to create a unique, energetic and powerful disc that would help us achieve this goal.”

The artists, who’re slated to team up with Spanish pop star Enrique Iglesias during his upcoming concert in Puerto Rico in late January, added that they will head to Haiti this week to oversee their plans of building an orphanage for children with the $100,000 they donated last year to a non-profit entity after the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti.

Clad in their usual urban outfits and wearing their trademark sunglasses, Wisin & Yandel also praised Puerto Rican pop superstar Ricky Martin for having come out of the closet early in 2010 and said they respected him for it.

“It must have been very difficult for him after all those years he kept it to himself,” they said.

“Not that many famous artists do that, and we respect him deeply for it.”
