Regrettably my extender doesn't work. I don't know if it was because it was used or just because the item is kind of old. Either way I tried everything and nothing. It did not work as a wifi extender as for some reason it wouldn't connect. And it did not work as a router, this time it was with an Ethernet cable so it did connect, but it was only capable of giving Internet to one device at a time and it was connecting and reconnecting all the time. I gave 3 system updates and downloaded every d-link app I found and still no improvement. So overall 0/10.

Edit: 3.5 months later, it stopped working. D-Link’s customer service is only free for the first 1-3 months. Found a suggestion online to update the firmware but can’t get it to connect to the internet to download it. Device’s owners don’t have an extra Ethernet cable to try connecting to it that way—that may be what I try next. This device is for my 80 yr old parents - would be better if you didn’t have to be an IT professional to keep the device maintained. I’d just buy a new one but I’m guessing it would need updating frequently.

Admittedly I did not research enough and was disappointed with the reduced wifi signal. Unit does project wifi signal further but you will get a reduced wifi signal which I have come to find out is inherit to the technology and to be expected.

Do not buy D-link extenders and tech support is a scam

I would give negative stars if possible. Bought and set up D-Link Dap-1610 extender. Used the supposedly easy 1 button wps set up, and my network recognized the extender. However, when trying to log in my smart device, it kept asking for a pw, and with the correct password, kept coming back invalid. Tried logging in directly on the the D-link webpage and kept getting "invalid password." Contacted customer service, and not only was the the support tech rude and condescending in the way he spoke, he had a heavy accent that was difficult to understand at times, and he refused to help me unless I paid for a wifi gateway protection plan for $199 for basic, or $299 for the one with 2 year support. He called my Norton security "crap," tried to scare me into saying all my date was vulnerable. It was a sales call from the moment he answered. When I told him I had to think about it, he said them I am disconnecting from the remote control of your desktop and when you decide to purchased you can call back. It is a scam to force you to buy this "gateway" protection. Do no buy D-link products.

O aparelho é compatível com a tecnologia mesh para estender uma rede Wi-Fi, porém tem limitação de range de canais para funcionar, na 5G precisa trabalhar só com canais com numeração mais baixa, o que dificultou muito a instalação até eu descobrir esse detalhe. E o aparelho trava praticamente uma vez por dia, o que precisa tirar e colocar ele novamente na tomada. No mais atende ao esperado.
