Shirley B. Blaine, 89, of Massachusetts Dr., Ellwood City, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at the Evergreen Nursing Center.

Born July 15, 1925, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Olive Adams Babbitt. Shirley lived with her grandmother, Olive Adams, and grew up with her cousins, Charles, Averil, Phyllis and Peggy. She was married for 54 years to James A. Blaine Sr., who passed away in 2002.

Shirley graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943. She worked in the payroll department for Matthews Conveyor in Ellwood City. She also worked at the Ellwood City Hospital. Shirley was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, but most of all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, James A. (Donna) Blaine Jr. of Slippery Rock and Robert J. (Luann) Blaine of Ellwood City; daughter, Cynthia Blaine of Ellwood City; five grandchildren, Lori (Mat) Harrison, Kelly Blaine, Patrick (Monica) Blaine, Lindsay (Lee) Bowman and Colleen Blaine, and three great-grandchildren, Payton, Jaxson and Danny.

Her life will be honored in a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. Friends will be received for one hour before the services. Her pastor, Rev. Pat Cleary, will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Ellwood City Public Library.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staffs at the Ellwood City Hospital and Evergreen Nursing Home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City.
