Report offers range of economic loss from vanishing coast

The report's top findings: •It would cost $2.1 billion to $3.5 billion to replace residential, non-residential structures and network infrastructure, such as roads, rail, waterways, and oil and gas transportation systems at risk from land loss. •About $5.8 to $7.4 billion in economic activity would be lost each year because of the direct effects of land loss land loss. An estimated 800 to 1,200 businesses would be affected, endangering $2.4 billion to $3.1 billion in annual sales and payrolls of $400 million to $575 million. •An additional $5 billion to $51 billion in total economic could be lost because of storm damage. •An additional $10 billion to $133 billion in damage to buildings and structures could be lost from storm damage.
