🔴 TREND TIMELINES

🔶️ Past Informs Future

There is nothing new under the Sun, but prevailing trends and prior events can continue and/or recur in the Future.

🔶️ Seek "Next Normal"

Don't assume that existing "normal" will continue to prevail; there maybe major paradigm shifts.

🔶️ Avoid Conventional Wisdom

It is usually wrong in terms of change, when and if it will happen, or to what extent. And when so-called experts say that something will *not* happen, they are invariable proven wrong.

🔶️ Consider Wild Cards

Always ask “what if” about remote possibilities. Imagine the unimaginable; expect the unexpected. There are always rare "Black Swans" lurking.

🔶️ Rethink Expectations

Don't over-estimate the short-term. Don't under-estimate the long-term. Is this a sure thing? And if so when?

🔴 CONNECTED FACTS

🔶️ Connect and Converge

Estimate 2nd- and 3rd-degree impacts; "if this, then that." Create a jigsaw puzzle of inter-related disciplines and trends.

🔶️ Look for Opposites

How will this trend have impact across the mainstream? There will be countervailing trends or reinforcing trends.

🔶️ Determine Facts

Find real root causes, avoid red herrings; weed out fake data, biases, and wishful thinking. You need future-proof facts.

🔶️ Detect Clues

Think "outside the box" with a 360-degree radar, constantly scanning for real trends to find the true future. Again, you need future-proof facts.

🔶️ Use Your Intuition

The best ideas will come from first impressions and intuition. Your intuition will always be your best guide to the future. Always!
