Christian Home Builders Plan Rummage Sale Members of the Christian Home Builders Class of the East Main Street Christian Church who assist in preparing the rummage for the sale which will be held Friday at the city building, are asked to meet at the city building at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

The sale will be held from 7:30 until 3 o'clock Friday. The patronage of the public will be appreciated. R. C. C.

Club Will Be Entertained An all-day meeting of the R. C. C. Club will be held tomorrow with Mrs. William Butner, east of the city.

Must Do Part Elwood Economics Club Has Meeting Mrs. Wayne Hasecuster and Mrs. Alfred Masters were hostesses at the regular meeting of the Elwood Home Econoini" Club which was held yesterday afternoon at the pffice of the Indiana General Service Company. The president, Mrs.

Max Hurd, conducted the business session, and devotions were led by Mrs. H. C. Hadley. A talk on, "Teaching Children to Work and Save, and It's Dangers." was given by Mrs.

Jesse McCreary, and a general discussion followed. The meeting closed with the club creed. A social hour was enjoyed and refreshments were served. Members present were: Mrs. F.

Two delightful readings "Neighbors," and "If (Kipling) were given by Mrs. Charles Dawson. At the close of the program, tea was served in the dining room with Mrs.

Dawson presiding. Decorations in keeping with Washington's birthday were used in the appointments with a centerpiece of flags and candles gracing the table. Mrs. O. W.

Tri Kappas Have Dinner-Meeting Members of the Tri Kappa Sorority met last evening at the Hotel Sidwell for a dinner tit 7 o'clock, followed by the biennial inspection of the chapter with Miss Helen Whitcomb, of Shelby-ville, council vice-president, in charge. Forney, and Miss 'Elizabeth Smith composed the committee in charge for the evening. The sorority's colors oL black and white were carried out in the attractive table appointments. Black tapers and bowls of white cut flowers were used as center pieces, with black and white dolls marking each place. A large model of the pin was used on the mantel. At 5:30 o'clock.

Senior Class Has Lean Year Dance The Senior 4A Class of the Elwood High School sponsored a Leap Year Dance last evening in the old high school gymnasium. During the evening, Miss Leoora NeldeT, who reigned as Prom Queen during 1939, 4 crowned Dale Smith as Leap Year King to reign during 1940. Mr.

Smith was elerted king by the girls of the junior and senior classes of the school. The Leap Year theme was carried out throughout the evening and music was furnish bv Merrill Foland's orchestra. Mr. and Mrs. Riay Waymire, class snonsors, and Mr.

MEREDITH CAVAN Meredith Cavan, brother of Howard Cavan of Elwood and former Elwood resident, is at the present time engaged in the furniture business at San Diego, California. His address is 4793 Pan-aroma Drive.

Meredith was born at Hagers-town, Indiana, December 12, 1892. and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Cavan.

He moved to Elwood with his parents when he was only a few months old. After he was graduated from the Elwood Senior High School, he went to work in the office at the American Works of the Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corporation where he was a clerk. Several years after he was graduated he moved to Indianapolis and was affiliated with a correspondence school. Later he returned to Elwood and was engaged in the clothing business for several years. In 1924 he moved to Gary and was in the clothing business there until 1936 when he went to Call fornia and became engaged in the furniture business.

He was married in Gary in 1936 and is the father of two children. During the time he was at Elwood, he was the Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks lodge.
