World Cup Winner Joan Capdevila Has A New Club

Not as glamorous as La Liga

When Spain won the World Cup in 2010 there was only one player on the pitch in a Spanish shirt starting the final who didn't play for Real Madrid or Barcelona and that full back Joan Capdevila. Spain's forgotten man has found himself a new side.

Capdevila might not have had the star power of a Gerard Pique, Xavi or Fernando Torres in the 2008 Euro and 2010 World Cup winning sides but the left-back did play in all but one of Spain's matches over those tournaments. And despite never playing for either of the big two he did have a pretty decent career in his home country with Deportivo and Villarreal before a move to Benfica brought him a first league winners medal.

At 38 and having most recently been plying his trade in India and Belgium you'd be forgiven for forgetting about the full back with 60 Spain caps to his name and at his age he might have considered retirement but instead he's signed for Andorran champions FC Santa Coloma, yes everyone's favourite Andorran team!

But if he's worried about missing out on the big games now that he's playing in the Primera Divisió he shouldn't fear because as champions of Andorra the team will be in the Champions League next season.

Of course as the country with the second least coefficient points in UEFA, ahead of only San Marino, there's going to be a qualifying round or two before he can think of a meeting with his former side Villarreal.

Good luck Joan.
