Downgrade without excuse and refund!

Our ordered car was not available, so we got a downgrade (other lower category)! They didn't even excuse and they declined a refund by stating that the rented car was also suitable for 4 passengers! My impression is that they do this on a frequent basis and it seems that it is part of their business model. Never again!

Rented at San Jose in Costa Rica

Rented at San Jose in Costa Rica. I travel often and rent cars 4-5 times a year. This was by far the best rental experience I have ever had.
They were there at the airport to receive me. Drove me immediately to the rental site which was just 2 mins away. The service person was very professional and expedicious. For the first time ever, no one ever tried to upsell me a different car or service or insurance.
The return was super quick and professional.
It was a pleasure dealing with this company which I cannot say about most other rental companies including some of the major ones.

Absolute scumbags

Absolute scumbags. They don’t accept Amex (not mentioned anywhere in agreement) and will find any reason to add bolt-on charges.

I was charged €150 as a ‘key deposit’, refundable upon return of the car keys. Predictably, this has still not been refunded a week later, despite promises to the contrary.

Avoid at all costs.

beware using dickmans car hire in spain

beware using dickmans car hire in alicanti. they TAKE 800 euros deposit from your credit card, instead of RESERVING it, and you will be charged a non sterling transaction fee by the card provider. they hold this for three to four weeks instead of returning it after checking the car. this policy is not done by REPUTABLE HIRE COMPANIES . also you are given no details of their off airport address, so difficult to return car if getting a night flight.

Better than expected

I was a little worried about booking through these based on the reviews, but they were the cheapest by far. However, on the whole, I was actually pretty impressed. When I landed (SJO), I wasn't sure where to go so sent them a WhatsApp. They replied quickly and came to pick me up. The rental process was quick and smooth, with friendly staff. There wasn't too much of a push for a higher insurance level either. The car itself wasn't the best (worked fine, but no A/C or windscreen blowers which made it pretty uncomfortable). However, I was happy for the price I paid!

Excellent car hire Ibiza

Used Amigos Autos who out source with Okay Car Rental in Ibiza. Price was cheap for a new 4x4 hybrid. Picked up near the airport and even easier when returning. Nice and simple collection bus you do have to check for damage and petrol yourself then get it signed off. On return very easy and polite. No hidden extras, no additional charges, deposit returned same day. I hired excess cover before going as its always expensive at the hire places. I was worried about the negative reviews but it was awesome. 👍

A theft !!!

Bellow the suppose price to pay for my car rental, and after all those hidden chargers I end up paying 568.92.

We rented a car at Amigo Cars Costa…

We rented a car at Amigo Cars Costa Rica

We had to wait more than 1,5 hours for the car we orderd, then they gave us a different car.

We payed an advance of ± € 130 when we booked our car online and in the confirmation mail was written that they should deduct it from the total price, but when we went to get our car they told us it was for the booking site and they wont deduct it from the price, that was higher than agreed on in advance.

Normaly we had everything coverd, but they told us it wasn't true, so we had to get more expensive insurance.

We also had to pay a deposit of $ 300, when we handed in the car at the end of our vacation, we agreed that the car was in the same condition as we got it, but we didn't get our deposit back. They told us we would get it back within 10 days, today we are 15 days later and I still haven't received it!

They are real gangsters, don't rent a car there!!!

Avoid!!

We rented a car in June 2019 in Ibiza and we paid a deposit of 750 euros. Although the car was returned in an excellent condition and we were informed that the deposit would be returned, we did not receive it for the following ten months. It was really hard to contact the company and we had sent numerous emails to the company's emails and also the partners'. After 10 months and having the bank involved, we received the deposit. It was very stressful and frustrating. We wish we had read the reviews first.

Took 2 payments, won’t respond to emails

Do not use this company.

Poor service from beginning to end. They have taken two payments for my booking. I have emailed 4 times using 2 different email addresses to sort out their error and I have had no reply. Yesterday I rang and spoke to someone in their reservation office (‘Sandra’) who assured me I would get a response and resolution yesterday, I still have not had either.

Their customer service is non-existent. I used them 18mths ago and had no problems but clearly something has changed significantly. As it stands I have paid twice for a car hire and I have no idea if I will get anything.

I strongly recommend you choose another hire company.

AutoClick rip off charge

I returned the car at AutoClick Alicante office on 12.10.2016 according to the rental agreement. There was a parking accident with a small damages on the car. I applied the papers about the accident to start the procedure to recovery at the same office before to return the car on 11.10.2016.
My credit card is charged with 1013 euro on 13.10.2016. Still this amount is missing from the credit card more than 3 moths.
It is apparent that everything is in order about the insurance to recover the damage.
All the details are available at the Police station Valencia.

GOOD PRICE ALWAYS

Can mostly, but not always, get the best price on this site. Nevertheless, worth a visit.
Web site could do with improvement. The input boxes for credit card details are confusing - e.g. expiry date of credit card is next to passport number which means it can easily be read as needing the expiry date of passport!

Off- site collections at airports should also be shown clearly before bookings are made.

The interface at AmigoAutos was rather …

The interface at AmigoAutos was rather easy to follow. However, there were many hidden fees, of which either came up after choosing the reservation, or at the actual time of picking up the car for rental. I received an email a day from a third party with respect to extra insurance "needed". When arrived to pick up my car, it was not there. I was also unable to choose the insurance on my credit card as opposed to what was "pre-selected" by AmigoAutos. I'd highly recommend using the car rental website over AmigoAutos.com, even if it costs a little more, because you know exactly what you will be receiving. ALSO ... AmigoAutos charged me for the reservation of which, as can been seen above, did not go well.

Terms and conditions not clear at all

Terms and conditions not clear at all. I wanted a rent a car with desk at the airport and ended up with a company that had a desk at the "business terminal", which is 10min drive from the passenger terminal. On top of that, they didn't precise an out of hours pick up fee of 40€ I had to pay on arrival. I won't use this broker again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

amigo autos was ok, Firefly car hire was a disgrace

amigo autos service was of a good standard, apart from emails at 3.30 in the morning asking if I wanted to upgrade my insurance.
Unfortunately, the vendors that amigo autos use are not up to scratch, Firefly car hire in Malaga Airport was a disgrace, and as a result I have lost my trust in both companies and will not use them again.

Dear Madam/Sir,
I booked a car with Gold car for 2 July until 9 July. Then I received a court summons (divorce) on 2 July so I had to cancel the above reservation. I tried to call Amigo, no answer, I sent 2 e-mails cancelling the reservation and trying to explain that I would arrive on 3 July instead of 2 July.
I arrived in Alicante on 3 July and had to MAKE ANOTHER RESERVATION. Please reimburse the amount of the previous reservation.

Good car at a great price

I was very dubious when I read the reviews re Amigo autos but I was pleasantly surprised by the entire procedure. Picked up at Malaga airport by a very pleasant driver and taken to the collection office. Smooth procedure at the office. I had to put a deposit on my debit card which was refunded two days after the rental ended. Very good car at an excellent price.

Don't trust pricing!

Thought I was getting car for 40 euros, final bill was close to 106 euros. Be very careful with the fine print. The website may say XYZ but then when you book it the contract will say something else.

For eg. We were surprised when we got to our rental they told us we only had 250km per day where the website said unlimited. Furthermore, we thought we ordered automatic only to find a manual submission at the rental company.

Just book directly with the rental company and skip this service.

Very impressed with Amigo Autos service, but very frustrated with Goldcar

I had to hire a car at short notice as a friend was unable to pick us up from the airport. Your part of booking online was great, and it was easy to book and simple to understand. It would have been useful to know however what I had in store with dealing with Goldcar. Every dealing seemed to have a hidden charge, and though I expected the one way fee, the rest were all nasty surprises. I can honestly say I really never want to rent a car again.
