minutemen

..........

The Minutemen are my favourite band of all time! Ever!

..........

The Minutemen were only the second band to release a record on Black Flag's SST Records (their debut EP, 'Paranoid Time', in 1980) and remained an integral part of the label for the next few years.

My first experience of the Minutemen was in August 1997, when I got 'Post-Mersh Volume One', a compilation of the band's first two albums - 'The Punch Line' from 1981 and 1982's 'What Makes A Man Start Fires?' It was like nothing I had ever heard before - the music was funky, in a jazzy sort of way, but played at hardcore speed. What's more, the songs were only 40 seconds long! It was insane, but I loved it and I've been hooked ever since.

D. wore work-shirts long before the hippies in Temple Bar. They ripped him off!

D. Boon - Guitar, Vocals

Probably the best bassist in the world.

Mike Watt - Bass, Vocals

Georgie making a stench.

George Hurley - Drums

If you want a really good description of the band, check out their entry in the Rough Guide to Rock at the Rough Guide to Rock. I'd give one myself, but why sould I bother when it's already been done? Besides, I'd rather tell you about how the Minutemen changed my life.

But not right now - I'm knackered, so I'll finish the page in a few days, but to keep you occupied......

Here's some more pics I found:
