Alangulam Cement Works
Commercial production was commenced in 1970-71 with a capital outlay of Rs. 6.66 crores. With the rated capacity of 4 lakh tonnes per annum, this unit provides direct employment to 787 people and indirect employment to 2000 people.
Tamilnadu Asbestos Sheet Plant
commenced its commercial production in October 1981. Capacity of the plant is 36000 tonnes of Asbestos sheets per annum. It produces corrugated, semi - corrugated and plain sheets of 1 metre to 3 metres length with a standard width of 1.05 metres and thickness of 6 mm. The range includes plain sheets and accessories. This unit gives a direct employment to 255 people and indirect employment to 700 people.

  • Sir, I had a chance to visit this Tamil Nadu Cement Factory at my very tiny age of 10 years boy in the year 1971 when my real uncle was an employee (Pharmacist) of the Dispensary Hospital attached to this unit. He joined your unit in its Health Wing as an Ex-Service Man and served your esteemed unit for a period of more than 20 years. While we see this Cement unit still alive and working gives an unexplained immense pleasure with the old traditionally erected huge Dom Chimneys which we recollect very much on perusal through Internet. We also recollect even today that our Mom(Aunty) is still alive at the age of touching 80 years old - narrating all about the old tales of this cement factory and also about Rajapalayam Railway( erstwhile meter gauge) now converted BG line. My sincere warm and best regards to all the Top officials and staff including the ground technical personnel who are closely associated to this erstwhile Multi-Production Unit of Tamil Nadu. best regards.
