Moth is a small town situated between Orai and Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. It is located on National Highway 25, 60 km south-west of Orai and 40 km north-east of Jhansi.
Samthar, the erstwhile independent principality under the great Gujar warriors of the 17th and 18th centuries, is just 13 km away.

Nearest major airport is at Lucknow. Moth Railway Station is on the Jhansi–Orai rail route.

The place was earlier called "मठ" and during British rule in India, the name changed to "Moth" due to their british accent. The place has an old fort which is almost in to ruins now.
