BWK Award for DredgDikes Master’s Thesis

M.Sc. Stephan Lesch received the BWK environmental award M-V 2012 for his outstanding master’s thesis about the erosion stability against overflowing of greened dredged materials in a small scale lab flume. The experiments have been performed in the geotechnical and hydraulics laboratories at Rostock University (chair of Geotechnics and Coastal Engineering, Prof. Saafhoff) under supervision of Dr. Cantré, Dipl.-Ing. Große and M.Sc. Olschewski. The results will be used to design the large-scale experiments on the test dikes. BWK is the German association of environmental engineers. The regional chapter of Mecklenburg – West Pomerania awards the best thesis in the field of environmental engineering and planning once every year. The price has been handed over to the award winner on Friday 30 Nov. 2012 in the frame of the official press conference of the head of the State Agency of Agriculture and Environment in Rostock (Dipl.-Ing. Hans-Joachim Meyer, associated partner 1). The thesis (only in German) can be downloaded HERE.
