To the north of the isthmus between Arajärvi and Levälammi, the thickest moraine deposits in Finland, with a thickness of 30 m, have been measured.

The canoeing route starts from Kortjärvi in Urjala and passes through Kylmäkoski to Viiala, where Toijala and Valkeakoski can be found at the lake connections. Canoeing can also be continued to Lempäälä as a rapids route. The slow-flowing route is also great for families and beginners. Along the way, there will be a few rapids to look out for. 六、历史文化

1.历史

There is no unequivocal certainty as to the origin of the name Akaa. History books know at least two different interpretations. According to H. Ojansuu, the parent form is 'Akas' and the name is derived from the Estonian personal name Aga. (Finnish Place Name Research I, 1920). H. Pipping, on the other hand, considers the origin of the name to be the ancient Germanic word ‘ahuaz’, which is pronounced roughly ‘akats’ and means water. According to Pipping, Akaa originally marked the Bay of Vanaja into which the Lontilanjoki River flows. (Finnish Ortnam, 1918).

The parish of Akaa became independent from Sääksmäki as its own parish in 1483. At that time, Akaa can be considered to have existed precisely as a parish. However, Akaa was not the administrator, but as a quarter it belonged to the Saarioinen administrator from the 14th century onwards. Its other quarters were Tarttila, Jalantijärvi and Airanne. Aka's quarter included Tarpia, Haihunkoski, Varrasniemi, Toivetula, Haudanniemi, Rättö, Pätsiniemi, Nahkiala, Toijala, Käyrälä, Lontila, Riisikkala, Kurisjärvi and Taloila. The name for the Akaa administrative area was derived from Akaanjoki and Akaanjärvi.

Initially, Viiala did not form an administrative entity administratively or parishly, but was crossed by the border of old Häme and Satakunta. The eastern half of Häme belonged to the administrator of Saarioinen and the western half of Satakunta originally belonged to Pirkkala, from which Vesilahti and Lempäälä later became independent administrators. Viiala belonged to the administrator of Lempäälä. Congregationally, Viiala moved to Akaas in the late 17th century, but continued administratively as part of Lempäälä.

The role of administrators gradually diminished in the 18th century, when their functions were transferred to other authorities. In 1828, the Senate permanently abolished administrations as unnecessary. The municipal administration was established in Finland by the municipal decree of 1865 and the division of municipalities was carried out on the basis of the division of the parish. This is how the municipality of Akaa was born. The then industrial agglomeration of Viiala was divided between Akaa and Lempäälä.

The arrival of the railway in Akaas had a strong effect on the development of the municipality and its industry. During the railway project, there were competing plans for the location of the intersection in Viiala, Toijala and Linnainen. After several stages, the choice ended in the church village of Akaa and Toijala became the intersection of three railways in 1876. However, the railway also came to Viiala, which got its own position.

The industrialization of Akaa began in Viiala, where the first factory, Akkas Ångåg Ab (Akaan Steam Sawmill), was established in 1873. At the turn of the century, industrial development was concentrated in Viiala, where a glass factory and a brick factory were established. Toijala initially had mainly food factories, until the establishment of the Toijala wallpaper factory in 1903 also began the diversification of Toijala's industrial development.

Viiala became independent from Akaa as its own municipality in 1932. The new municipality of Viiala became villages from Aka, Lempäälä and Vesilahti. Viiala had already had its own parish in 1925. The municipality of Akaa was abolished in 1946, when its church village was turned into a township of Toijala. Other areas of the old municipality of Akaa were connected to Viiala, Kylmäkoski and Sääksmäki. The city of Toijala became in 1977.
