Dream forever new build home Winterbourne

When we took over this project on a former agricultural site, planning consent had already been granted for a new build house in place of some commercial agricultural barns. But our clients weren’t happy with the approved designs and were looking for someone who could really deliver their vision.

In careful partnership with their contractor, and by applying for planning amendments, we managed to not only increase the footage of the property, we also managed to squeeze in an extra floor of accommodation.

Location: Winterbourne, West Berkshire

Materials: We wanted to create an authenticity to the house, so used hand-made blended bricks and roof tiles, traditional joinery, stone and timber floors.

Clever aspects: A connection to the landscape was really important, so we spent time re-sculpting the site, to help blend the building work with the environment and add character to a formerly agricultural context.

We love: By using a double height hallway and internal Crittall screens, every room has a feeling of space and light, something so important to this family.
