The GIFT Foundation

The GIFT Foundation was formed as a public charitable Trust on the Pongal day of 1998 to Advance and propagate Education, Learning and Research through the establishment of educational institutions, especially in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu.

1.Enhance Education, Learning and Research by instituting scholarships and financial aid programs for deserving students and scholars.

2.Support Education, Learning and Research of the Tamil language, literature, culture and history, especially in the Kongu region of Tamil Nadu.

3.The GIFT Foundation’s first project was the establishment of in 1998-99 with the help of Tamil Nadu Foundation Inc., USA. Also, the APPU ARIVAALAYEM CBSE Secondary School has been functioning successfully from 2011-12. Also, the Trust has contributed to the following causes.

Rs.25,000 has been given as scholarship to student Geetha of Gobichettipalayam, who is studying medicine in Russia & Rs.10,000 has been donated through Konganapuram Foundation for Govt. School students.

To the Gaja – Storm-hit Kasturba Gandhi Kanya Gurukulam Rs.50,000 has been donated and Idappadi Educational District office & Konganapuram Police Station have been donated with a computer-system each. Donated Rs.1,00,000 worth of student-desks and benches to KA Nachiyappa Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Konganapuram.Contributed Rs.1,40,000 under Self-Sufficiency Scheme to construct the compound wall at Panchayat Union Elementary School, Manjakkalpatti. It was sponsored by our patron Tr. Mani Rajendran, USA, for his alma mater.

Donated Rs.86,000 to Kalari Heritage & Charitable Trust to help publish the second edition of the book அருங்கூத்து(Arungkoothu) about our rural folk arts such as ‘Koothu’, ‘Pavai Koothu’, ‘Bommalattam’ and their artists.

The Trust organised a book-release function in which the Vice- chancellor of Periyar University released the historical book title ”கொங்கு நாட்டில் தாமஸ் மன்றோ” (Thomas Manroe in Kongu Land) by Idappadi Amuthan and acquired 100 copies of the book at the cost of Rs. 10,875.

Donated Rs.40,000 towards publication of the first of its kind ‘Colloquial Language Dictionary for Kongu (கொங்கு வட்டாரச் சொல்லகராதி)/ This book secured ‘Best Publication in 2000’ award in its category by Tamilnadu Govt.

Contributed Rs.25,000 to Kongu Research Centre, Erode, to help their research on ancient inscriptions. The social history book, Kongu vellalar Seerkalum Ilakkiangalum, has been published from this donation. Donated Rs.5,000 to U.V.Saminatha Iyyer Trust (உ.வே.சாமிநாத ஐயர் அறக்கட்டளை). Chennai, to publish old Tamil manuscripts.

Donated student-desks and benches worth Rs.30,000 to Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Magudanchavadi. Contributed Rs.7,500 to start Govt.Girls High School at Konganapuram and Rs.10,000 to upgrade it to Higher Secondary School. Also, Rs.10,000 to upgrade Govt. Middle School to High School at Vaikuntham.
