Governor's Rapids in Maddela, Quirino
The Philippine province of Quirino is a landlocked province in the northern region of Cagayan Valley and its rolling terrain virtually hides it away from mainstream tourism. The province may not have tropical beaches but Quirino has other natural attractions that are equally beautiful.
Located in the town of Maddela is Governor's Rapids which form part of a tributary of the Cagayan River. It features crystal clear waters which earned it the award of being among the cleanest inland bodies of water in the whole Cagayan Valley.
A dominating feature in the landscape is the towering limestone formation. Continuous erosion by the river formed a number of rock shelters where the Dumagat indigenous people would seek refuge during harsh weather.
AGLIPA,QUIRINO
Among the provinces of Cagayan Valley, Quirino must score the least when it comes to awareness among tourists and travelers. One main reason is it's bypassed by Maharlika Highway. But it has a lot of potential for ecotourism with its many caves, waterfalls and whitewater rapids. Add to the fact that roads to and around the province are in relatively good condition.
During my road trip, I got to enter the Aglipay Caves. Before proceeding to the caves, I stopped by the Quirino Capitol in Cabarroguis to ask for some information from the tourism office. I just wanted to make sure that road condition to Aglipay Caves was good. And it sure was good because they've paved the roads from the National Highway all the way to the cave entrances.

“Where adventure begins.”

White water rafting usually used rubber boat, when colliding in big rocks are common, and sometime collision with the rocks are intentional to have more fun in the adventure. Boating in a raging rapids using an ordinary wooden boat is another firsts to our experience. The strong rapids of the water literally rattled our body. LOL -
FINAL DESTINATION,OUR VIRGIN FOREST
Home to lush virgin forests, is being developed as a gateway to Aurora Province through Barangay Sangbay. About 54 kilometers from Cabarroguis, the town is a great venue for camping and eco-tourism activities. Arriving at Nagtipunan, we paid our respects to the local authorities. We even enjoyed their hospitality when the family of Mayor Nieverose Camma Meneses offered us a place to rest for the night, and food in our bellies.
The next day, after a hearty breakfast we went to Bimmapor, a famous rock formation similar to a ship’s stern which is about to sink. Less than an hour’s drive from the Municipal Hall, Bimmapor is recommended for rock climbing, trekking, swimming, rafting, excursion and fishing, among others.
