Character: The Artful Dodger

Book: Oliver Twist

Author: Charles Dickens

I love Dickens’ Oliver Twist. I laugh at hotel complaints about loudly singing Lionel Bart songs. But what a scared Artful Dodger. Fun musical, frightening job.

I’m breathing. Fast. I panic, still now. Been doing this for years, best in the business. But still that fear causes me to pant. What if I get caught? What if I can’t run fast enough? What if I’m sent to court? Locked up? Heavy breathing. They’ll hear me. Move fast. I’m in. I’ve got it. I’m done. Artful Dodger succeeds again.
