DescriptionWITHCOTE HALL AND CHAPEL.LEICESTERSHIRE.jpg | The hall has looked in need of some TLC of late (it was on English Heritage's "at risk" register,so it's good to see something being done to it.The Tudor chapel (Churches Conservation Trust)contains some superb stained glass,attributed to Galeon Hone,glazier to Henry VIII.Oddly enough,Launde Abbey,within easy walking distance,contains the very fine Tudor monument to Gregory Cromwell,son of Thomas,who dissolved the monastery and built himself a mansion there.It is strange that two major Tudor artworks exist so close together in such an apparrent rural backwater | ||
