Putting this list together of really good places to eat in Weston-super-Mare, I’m stunned by how many eateries and Weston restaurants there are serving top-notch nosh. From piers with panoramic sea views, to seafront dining accompanied by flickering fire pits, long-running establishments, vegan offerings and a whopping three Japanese restaurants to name a few, if you thought your only option for food in Weston was a bag of chips on the promenade, think again.

Best seafront restaurants in Weston-super-Mare
Revo Kitchen
With possibly one of the best panoramic views in the town, Weston’s ‘third pier’, Revo Kitchen is perched above the sandy beach, lapping up uninterrupted, sweeping views of Bristol Channel and the Brean Down promontory.
Open from breakfast until bedtime, you’ll find brunch classics like Eggs Benedict and Smashed Avocado, freshly baked pastries, cakes, tarts, savoury rolls, muffins and scones from their in-house bakery, toasties, pizzas, burgers, doorstop sandwiches, afternoon tea and more! There’s also dairy free, gluten free and vegan dishes to munch on while devouring the scenery.
For evening drinks bolstered by golden hour and flickering firepits, Revo also has a front seat spot for cocktail sipping at sunset. Add to that, a great evening vibe – you’ll often find local musicians performing here live on weekends.
If you don’t have time to stop for long, a takeaway outlet is located on the left hand-side as you walk through the doors (open from 10am-4pm during school holidays and weekends). And pup owners will be pleased to hear its dog-friendly inside and out.
The Old Thatched Cottage
Dating back to 1774, The Old Thatched Cottage is Weston’s oldest building and the town’s sole surviving thatched roof. As a result, it has bucket loads of charm, and thanks to its sea-facing al fresco terrace, outdoor firepits, top notch seafood and steak specialities, its often cited by locals as one of their favourite places to eat in Weston.
What’s more, The Old Thatched Cottage is a proudly independent, and family-run restaurant. Menus vary from all-day dining, to tapas, Sunday lunch and more, and there’s a children’s menu featuring sustainably-caught calamari rings for the more adventurous little’uns.
Il Michelangelo’s
Locals rave about Michelangelo’s for its incredible Italian dishes, exceptional service and spacious, glass-fronted outdoor seating area with superb sunset views.
Dine on award-winning pizza and pasta, surrounded by classical Michelangelo-style murals, lemon-dangling faux foliage, and views towards Knightstone Island and The Grand Pier.
Bistrot Pierre
Bistrot Pierre‘s seafront location with first floor dining and outdoor balcony make it an excellent restaurant in Weston for dining with sea views. Its circular shape maximises the vista-gazing potential during breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the food is French-inspired, and great for pre-theatre grub, bargain lunchtime specials or sundowners.
Look out for special deals during school holidays – they sometimes offer kids meals for £1.
Tiffany’s
Tiffany’s is a charming, Edwardian-style restaurant located on the end of The Grand Pier, and thanks to its 1/2-a-mile out to sea location, boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the bay. It recently won a Diners’ Choice Award 2023 with Open Table and serves things like Afternoon Tea, and fish and chips.
Lasseter’s Bar and Kitchen
Attached to the Winter Gardens Pavilion events venue – an historic site which was used by the BBC as a base during wartime, and graced by the likes of Her Majesty the Queen and legendary artists such as David Bowie, Cilla Black, Pink Floyd, Rod Stewart, Black Sabbath, and Elton John back in the day – Lasseter’s has some of the finest views in Weston.
On the menu you’ll find burgers, steaks, fish and chips, stuff for kids and cocktails. Look out for their themed bottomless brunches. With a stunning seafront backdrop, you’ll want to bag a spot on the outdoor terrace to drink in the waterfront views in balmy weather.
Brunello Lounge
Located on Marine Parade, opposite the pier, Brunello Lounge – one of a group of many lounges set up by long-standing friends – has a varied menu with lots of options for all-day brunch, lunch, delicious tapas dishes, children’s meals, as well as a diverse range of gluten-free and vegan choices.
The interiot is an eclectic, retro affair, complement by the restaurant’s large windows, which look out towards the seafront. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating, allowing guests to relish in al fresco dining while taking in the captivating sunset.
The Waterfront Restaurant, Smiths Hotel
Nab an al fresco table on the patio at Smiths Hotel Waterfront Restaurant, to make the most of the seafront views. Located on Weston’s promenade, it’s a great spot for soaking up the sun and watching the world go by. The restaurant recently underwent a revamp and has taken on a new chef, who has livened up its menu offering with homemade dishes and a variety of specials.
The all-day menu features salads, burgers, tapas, seafood, and veggie and vegan dishes, plus roasts on a Sunday.
Captain’s Cabin Bar & Restaurant
In winter, this bar and restaurant is all dark wood and cosy with a log fire, and in summer, the cracking outdoor terrace comes into its own. Perched on Weston’s seafront at the far end of town, towards Birnbeck Pier, the Captain’s Cabin terrace is hard to beat on a sunny day. Picture an outdoor bar, live music and a pint in had as the sun goes down and waves lap against the rocks, but a stone’s throw away.
New owners are keen to make Captain’s Cabin the local landmark pub that it deserves to be. Keep an eye on social media for events.
Nick’s Eatery
A seat on the terrace at Nick’s Eatery affords a glimpse of The Grand Pier and Weston’s long sandy beach. Transport your mind to the sun-drenched Mediterranean, with the taste of Greek specialities – battered cod, fresh home-cooked moussaka, kebabs and cocktails. Open from March.
South Sands Hotel in Sand Bay
Nestled in the village of Kewstoke, a 10-minute drive from Weston, and metres away from the National Trust’s Sand Bay, the independent South Sands hotel offers seasonal menus, accommodation, live music events and indoor and outdoor dining.
There are two restaurants in the hotel, Rock Salt, which focuses on fresh seafood and traditional dishes, and slightly fancier, The Bay, which is open for afternoon tea and dinner with a locally-sourced menu.
In summer, grab a spot on the terrace for drinks and nibbles after a stroll on the nearby beach.
Best restaurants in Weston-super-Mare
Ginger Pig Kitchen
Ginger Pig Kitchen (open Thursday-Sunday) is a brilliant restaurant if you like your gastropub stuff. Pork belly, torched goats cheese, risotto, moules-frites, posh fish and chips and the like. Thursday evenings are reserved for their legendary tapas nights with cocktails buy the jug or glass, lunch and dinner are served on Fridays and Saturdays, and you can grab yourself a stonking roast on Sundays from 12pm.
Bare Grills Smokehouse
Not far from the beachfront, this restaurant in Weston has nothing to do with survival expert Bear Grylls OBE, but now he’s no longer vegan, I think he’d approve of the hearty meat dishes that come out of this smokehouse.
There’s very much an American vibe here – tuck into BBQ feasts, monster dogs, wings, T-bones and Jack Mac n Cheese, while country music plays in the background.
Meze Mazi
Currently undergoing a name change from Meze Mazi, to Mazi Tapas, this Weston restaurant brings you tapas flavours from Greece, Cyprus and the Mediterranean region.
Demetri’s
Demetris Taverna is an authentic, family-run Greek restaurant in Weston-super-Mare, that has been running for over 40 years. The various menus feature an extensive range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Greek hospitality at its best.
Best Japanese restaurants in Weston-super-Mare
Sakura
It blew my mind when I discovered there was not one, but three excellent Japanese restaurants in this seaside town. Where I live in Somerset, it’s not known for its wide variety of cuisines, so I got incredible excited when I discovered I had such choice of sushi restaurants in Weston-super-Mare!
The Japanese food at Sakura is beautifully presented and highly delicious – tuck into everything from sashimi, ngiri, temaki, hosomaki, chef’s choice of assorted sushi, salads, sushi rolls, teppanyaki, yakimono, stir fried noodles, ramen and more.
Ebisu
Fish, rice, and everything nice, Ebisu serves up modern, fresh and casual Japanese cuisine on Weston’s Regent Street. All the usual faves are there – noodles, ramen, sushi – but if you’re not sure what to go for, try a curated bento box or elevate your lunch with a poke bowl. Wash down with a cup of Sake for good measure.

Ikanji
Soup, makimono, yakisoba, curryies, tempura, teppanyaki, sashimi, Ikanji, offers a quality Japanese all-you-can-eat buffet everyday, as well as a la carte dining.
Best cafes in Weston-super-Mare
Dr Fox’s Tearoom
Dr Fox’s is a traditional Tearoom on Knightstone Island, overlooking the sea. Serving cakes, soups and afternoon teas, they also make a vast array of different-flavoured sweet and savoury scones, all handmade on the premises. Choose from all kinds of flavours including banoffee, Black Forest, chocolate and ginger and pina colada, or on the savoury front – beetroot, marmite, and cheese, to name a few.
Loves Café, Grove Village
Located on West Street, just off the high street in Weston-super-Mare, vegan eatery/cafe/events space Loves Cafe has been run by owner Anna for over 14 years and serves tasty, nutritious, homemade food, and brunch Tuesday-Sunday. The emphasis here is very much on local produce, with a side of health, wellbeing and community-championing spirit.
As well as tasty fodder, there’s a library of books to borrow from, a book club to join, local art on display, live music events, indie film evenings and yoga brunch sessions.
Sprout
Sister cafe to Loves, plant-based Sprout in Grove Park sits opposite the park’s Victorian bandstand. Past summers have seen owner Anna, organise ‘Garden Grooves’ series – free-to-attend music shows with interesting and diverse acts, that encourage people to experience nature while enjoying the arts.
You’ll find yummy items such as breakfast burritos, veggie juices, toasties and salads to take away or enjoy on the outdoor picnic tables.
Weston Museum’s Clara’s Cafe
Weston Museum examines the story of the town, from prehistoric times, through the Victorian era tourism boom, all the way up to the present day. After browsing their exciting exhibitions and the preserved 1940s, Clara’s Cottage, Clara’s Cafe is a lovely place to go for coffee, cake, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and a meal deal on a Wednesday.
The Green House
The Green House coffee shop and eatery in Weston sits opposite The Sovereign’s mural-covered wall, painted for Weston Wallz by Squirl. Open for breakfast, brunch and lunch until 4pm, it’s a great place to grab a bite to eat when you’re out and about. Plus they serve really good cake and coffee, including oat milk flat whites!
The Stable Games Room
Formerly a coach house for taxis in Victorian times and a top hat and cloak makers, The Stable in Weston is now a bright and vibrant farm-to-fork restaurant focusing on sustainability and zero-waste cookery, home to Weston’s first board game pub with a library of hundreds of games, a food shop (which runs on a membership scheme), offices and co-working space.
Visitors will also find a courtyard garden and meeting room and events taking place throughout the year. The Stable Cafe is a good one for parents of young children looking to meet before/after a walk around Grove Park, as well as those after a cool dining space, friendly service, afternoon tea and good food.
Jenny’s Coffee House
Jenny’s Coffee House on Weston high street serves up tempting cakes, toasted sandwiches and paninis for customers to tuck into on big sofas. The perfect pick-me-up while out shopping.
The Boathouse, Uphill
Built into the side of the cliff, close to Uphill Beach and the Brean Down walking route, The Boathouse is a favourite spot for hikers and dog walkers in need of a refuel.
Replica boats, fishing nets and old maritime memorabilia line the walls – reflecting its past life as a Chandlers. Outside there’s a small area with picnic benches for hot days.
On the menu, you’ll find wholesome fare, breakfasts, sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, burgers and a variety of main dishes. Don’t leave without trying their homemade gelato! Dogs are catered for too, with ‘puppaccinos’ and natural dog treats.
Best places for brunch and breakfast in Weston-super-Mare
Scotty’s Brunch Bar
Opposite the Town Hall, Scotty’s offers a bottomless brunch and 90-minute party experience every day of the week. Perfect for birthdays or a get-together with friends, for £39.95, you get a choice of one dish (think paninis, fajitas, burgers or wraps) with unlimited cocktails, San Miguel, house wine, Prosecco, and selected spirits with a mixer. Or choose a shorter time period and a cheaper price tag, with the ‘mini’ brunch offer.
Otium
Carlton Street’s Otium is first and foremost, a wood-fired pizza restaurant and cocktail bar (open from 4pm) during the week. But at weekends, it opens its doors for a brilliant brunch offering. If you’re a fan of photographing your meals, you’ll love snapping a pic of perfectly poached eggs, set against a slick, floral and highly instagrammable backdrop.
Olea
Olea’s ‘bottomless tapas’ weekend brunch features three tapas dishes, dessert and (selected) bottomless drinks during your 90-minute sitting. Perched on the edge of Italian Gardens, with a view of the fountains, you’ll find Mediterranean-inspired food on the menu during the rest of the week as well as an extensive gin list.
Muffins Tea Rooms, Worle High Street
Family-run Muffins Tea Rooms is well-loved for its all-day breakfasts, brunches, light lunches, afternoon teas, kids’ meals and snacks. Expect friendly service, a relaxed atmosphere and a mouth-watering dessert menu. Dogs are welcome too.
Best fish and chips in Weston-super-Mare
Papa’s
Traditional chippy, Papa’s, on Waterloo Street, is a Weston institution. The longest-running fish and chip shop in the town (it’s been going since 1966), generations of local families return time and again for first class service and fish from sustainable sources that is cooked to perfection. Their no stranger to the odd celebrity visit too – just take a gander at the signed photo gallery to see the famous faces that have popped by.
Atlantic Fish Bar
Some of the team at Atlantic Fish Bar on Meadow Street, have been serving customers here for some 30 years! As well as classic fish and chips, you’ll also find more unusual additions to the menu here such as loaded pulled pork, veggie tex mex and pizza fries, plus homemade condiments.
The Strange Catch
The Strange Catch in Grove Village receives much praise for their excellent gluten-free batter. As well as classic fish and chips, they also serve ‘basa’ as a cheaper alternative to cod, plus burgers, tacos, burritos, hot dogs and nachos.
Winston’s
Winston’s Fish Bar sits across from Weston beach, and with their outdoor seating area, you can ponder seaside views while you munch on fish n’ chips. Or pop over to eat them on the seafront promenade – just watch out for the cheeky seagulls!
Sea Salt
Sea Salt can be found outside of Weston town centre, on a nearby trading estate next to Morrisons. It might sound a bit random, but the fish and chips are always super fresh, non-greasy, and come with a lemon wedge and free pot of tartare sauce.
Sand Bay Fish and Chip Shop & The Cosy Hatch
Sand Bay Fish and Chip Shop is – as the name would suggest – just a stone’s throw from Sand Bay beach, around 10-minutes drive north of Weston-super-Mare. You’ll find some novel additions to the menu – try the salt and pepper squid, a chip butty or doggie ice cream (for your pooch, in case you were confused).

PJ’s Ice Cream Parlour
PJ’s Ice Cream Parlour is THE place to go for a sweet treat. As well as over 70 flavours of scooped and whipped West Country ice cream, including vegan flavours, sorbets and gluten-free options, they offer sherbet milkshakes, sundaes. If you’ve got kids in tow, you won’t be able to avoid sugary novelties, like the ‘Ice Berger’ – a jam doughnut filled with ice cream, ‘Kernel Creation’ (ice cream and pop corn) or the towering, creatively-decorated, themed Whippy ice creams.
Fella’s Kiosk

Part of a chain of dessert houses, Kaspa’s offers a huge selection of sugary treats under one roof. As well as waffles, crepes, milkshakes, cakes, ice cream nachos and smoothies, you can work your way through has a whopping selection of ice cream sundaes, with flavours such as ‘After Eight Mint Choc’, ‘Banoffee Pie’ and ‘Cookies and Cream’.
