album stream: Andy Stott – Faith In Strangers

2014 is on its last legs, and one of the final great albums you’ll experience this year comes from Andy Stott. On Faith In Strangers, the Manchester-based producer swallows you whole with cloudy grey textures, sinking his teeth deep into that signature foreboding sound. One track I’m particularly consumed with is “Damage,” a brutal, mechanical assault that leads into the previously-revealed title track. It’s immersive, menacing, and completely ice-cold, qualities Stott has truly mastered. Whether they’re chilling drones or deep grooves, every track on Faith In Strangers has a darker, more distinctive force than anything else I’ve heard this year.
