Christopher Allen exited the game after sacking Miami football star quarterback D’Eriq King.

Alabama football fans held their breath after linebacker Christopher Allen needed assistance after his strip-sack of Miami football star quarterback D’Eriq King.

While the entire Chick-fil-A Kickoff was Alabama, as they routed Miami in a laugher, the Crimson Tide cannot like one of their veteran leaders in Allen getting hurt this early in the year. He went into the medical tent after his strip sack of King and was put on the cart. Alabama said he was no longer available to play in the first half for them. He was later ruled out entirely for the contest.

Alabama needs its star players like Allen to be healthy if it wants to repeat as national champions.

Christopher Allen injury update: Alabama football star maybe out for season

In the aftermath of Alabama’s blowout victory of Miami, it seems as those Allen could be lost for the year after suffering his foot injury. This would be a devastating blow for the Alabama defense.

Though the Crimson Tide are one of only a handful of teams in the country that can afford losing a veteran leader on its defense in the first half of its first game of the season, they do play an SEC schedule. They still have juggernaut programs like Texas A&M and LSU on the schedule, as well as a potential SEC Championship game date back in Atlanta vs. the likes of Georgia or maybe Florida.

With Allen likely out for a while, expect Nick Saban and his Alabama defense to adjust accordingly.
