PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WTGS) — The City of Port Wentworth broke ground on its largest investment in the history of the city Friday morning.

With an estimated $30 million investment, the city will be building a sports complex - the first in Port Wentworth.
The complex will be over 150 acres and will include four full-sized multi-use fields, a dog park, a gymnasium, an amphitheater, and more.
City leaders and residents say they are excited to finally have a sports park they can call home.
We’ve seen a tremendous amount of growth, and this project has been ongoing since 2014 we started it in the works. It’s a blessing," the city's leisure services director, Tiffany Lancaster, said. "I’m excited it's not just for children; it’s all the way [up] to seniors.
According to city officials, the construction will begin within the next few months.
