Description: A beautiful pit stop after relaxing in a hot spring.

As if the serenity and beautiful view at the Nakusp Hot Springs wasn’t enough, we stopped at this babbling creek on the way back to the house.

We had actually seen this creek on our way to the hot spring and made a mental note to stop at it on the way back. Laura gently nosed the van in to a self-made parking spot long the road and we all piled out for more water fun.

This creek was more than just a creek though. It also had a nice 20+ foot waterfall that fed the water to the creek. That was a welcoming surprise as I didn’t see it from our initial drive by. It was a bit tricky to navigate down to the rocks and around the creek due to the distance down plus the rocks, twigs, and earth.

To the right of the creek was this very narrow ledge you could semi-shimmy across. It’s not shown well in the photos below but it looked like a giant boulder was sheered in half and the remains crumbled to the ground. You had to navigate across to get up close to the waterfall. Unless you went up the left side but that was more hilly and not a lot of even walking space. The right side was more adventurous for us!

The slightly dangerous and adrenaline-pumping trek to the base of the waterfall was longer than I expected. From the road, it didn’t look like it went that far back, but it was a good 1/4 to 1/3 the length of an American football field. None of us were brave enough to get under the waterfall as we were unfamiliar with the area and the nearest hospital was 30+ minutes away.

There wasn’t much else to do at the creek besides traverse some rocky ground and play with the water. But I suppose there isn’t much to do at a creek but enjoy nature and snap a few photos.

Gardner Creek was another beautiful stop in Canada.
