Glass Candy – Warm In The Winter EP

Ida No and Jonnhy Jewel are back to warm up the winter.  Glass Candy, the Portland based band has just released a new EP named “Warm In The Winter”  (Italians Do It Better Records), this four track EP will definetely satisfy the fans who’re craving for some more of this band.

“Warm In The Winter” and  “Beautiful Object” together with their instrumental versions compose these EP. If you’re aware of “Feeling Without Touching” EP released in 2010 you can feel some continuum here. There’s less indie punk and a lot of italo-disco, electro and synth-pop gathered with a kind of cinematic feeling. That  doesn’t mean indie-rock-punk side of Glass Candy’s over. About to release their 4th full lenght album (“Body Work” – Italians Do It Better) we still can’t predict exactly how its going to be. We only know that Glass Candy build albums as mixtapes, meaning that every song has to make sense, so it’s not about the last thing they’ve produced but about what they already have done that fits. For example “The Price” was written for the album B/E/A/T/B/O/X (2007) but as it was too agressive for the context Glass Candy kept it in a box till now.

Gladly, the 808 and 909 drums, the synth brass as well as string samples are all over . Jewel seems to keep his obsession on this elements intact as Ida keeps on growing more intimate. Personally, i feel that the most important change since “Love Love Love” (Troubleman Unlimited – 2003) is the space given to Ida’s interpretation. Their carachteristical heartbeat like syncopated beats, give the perfect scenario for Ida’s declamatory style, whispers, murmurs and shouts that remain as an intense emotional spectrum long after she stops.

Don’t fear the winter…no matter how low the temperature is, good things will keep on coming!

To start take this Glass Candy’s blanket.
