“All of the songs on my new record are about people. Individual, real people.  Some are strangers I’ve met, but a lot are friends.  The song “Here They Come” is about a friend who’s constantly running from his problems. I love him to death but when the going gets tough, he’ll always just cut and run. The song is about the specific moment when the lights are coming up in a movie theater where he’s been hiding all day.  I figured including personal details in song lyrics might be kind of touchy, and I didn’t know how people might actually react if they thought they might have recognized themselves in a particular line, so I met up with my writer/actor friend to play him a song and gauge his reaction.
