Karad
Hills is one of the major attractions and constitutes the Agashiv,
Sadashivgad, Vasantgad and Pal Hills. Atop the Sadashivgadh Hill, one
can see the Sadashivgadh Fort which was constructed by Chhatrapati
Shivaji.
A temple
on top of the hill is dedicated to Lord Shiva can be visited as well.
Getting There
The National Highway 4 (NH4) goes
by Karad City. NH4 is a major National Highway in Western and Southern
India.
Karad Bus Station is a major bus
terminal, which is served by the Maharashtra State Road Transport
Corporation (MSRTC) from Pune, Satara, Mumbai, Kolhapur and Solapur.
Karad has its own Railway Station
named as Karad Railway Station which is connected to the major cities of
Maharashtra. The Railway Station located around 4 km from town center and
situated on the major Mumbai-Kolhapur railway line and it is linked with the
cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Mysore, Sangli, Chennai, etc.
Karad has its own domestic airport named as
Karad Airport.
It is currently being used for general aviation and pilot training.
There are no scheduled airlines operating at this Airport. The
nearest domestic / international airport is
Pune International Airport, roughly 178 km from Karad. Pune
International Airport is well connected to major cities in India.
