NEGROS OCCIDENTAL “The Sugarbowl of the Philippines”

Negros Occidental known as Occidental Negros or Western Negros is a province located at the western side of the island.It is known to be the “Sugar Bowl of the Philippines” as it produces more than half of the countries sugar output. The primary spoken language in most of the place in this province is Hiligaynon with minority is Cebuano on the eastern part of the province. Negros Occidental’s capital is Bacolod City which is a highly urbanized city, it has 12 component cities and 19 municipalities. The 2015 population census of the province is counted to 2,497,261.

MUNICIPALITY OF TOBOSO Toboso, officially the Municipality of Toboso, is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Negros Occidental, Philippines. It has a population of 6841 people with 1363 household. NPA-infested area. The inhabitants speak two languages: Cebuano followed by Ilonggo.

MUNICIPALITY OF CALATRAVA In 1873 Calatrava was founded & became a town under the Spanish Missionaries comprising the five Barrios Toboso, Lemery, San Isidro, San Carlos and Guadalupe. This area is a home to Aeta communities and is a NPA-infested area.

CITY OF ESCALANTE Local products of Escalante City is mainly sugar cane. These harvested sugar canes are transferred to the nearest sugar plantations to extract the sugar from it. Sugar are also shipped to the provinces and cities in the country. There are also rice and corn products in the city and is a NPA-infested area.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 30, 2019 Travel of the team to Murcia for R&R Flight back of the team to Manila

PRAYER POINTS 1. Pray for good weather during the mission. 2. Pray for smooth flow of the medical mission. 3. Pray for volunteers to commit their time and resources. 4. Pray for resources needed, funds to come in and partners to fulfill commitments. 5. Pray for safety, protection, wisdom and good health for all staff and volunteers involve in the medical mission – especially because the areas are NPA-infested. 6. Pray for the cargo to fly in to Iloilo care of our partner airline, Air Asia, and to ferry to Bacolod – safety of the cargo and church and volunteers to help, availability of the vehicle to pick up cargo from airport to port and ferry to Bacolod. 7. Pray for the MM Negros donors to be able to see the work of Operation Blessing and will commit to continue giving even to other projects. 8. Pray for the heart of the beneficiaries to be receptive of the gospel. 9. Pray that souls will be saved during the medical mission. 10. Pray that everyone will do this for the glory of the Lord.
