Southern Leyte occupies the southern quarter of the island of Leyte. It is bounded by the province of Leyte to the north, by Surigao Strait to the east, Bohol Sea to the south, and Canigao Channel, across from Bohol, to the west. The central portion of the province is dominated by the Sogod Bay, a long bay that cuts deep into the island. It is characterized by relatively flat lands along the coastal areas where population centers lie, but rugged mountains towards the interior.
I am a kind of person that is very adventurous. Southern Leyte is one of my bucket list that i want to explore. There are a lot of tourist spots that no one will regret to visit the different places. If I will given a chance now to visit a different tourist spots here in Southern Leyte i will not hesitate to say “why not”.
I have listed some of the beautiful and amazing places in southern leyte i want to explore:
1.Clear water, nice reef, awesome rock!
TANGKAAN BEACH RESORT
Located at Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte
People say that it is Leyte’s version of Boracay because of its white sand, crystal blue waters and panoramic landscape. Tangkaan Beach is one of the white sand beaches in Southern Leyte. It is also famous for its beautiful and exciting rock formations.
Tangkaan Beach is just three kilometers away from Padre Burgos. To reach there, there are available tricycles and habal-habals. The beach’s entrance is P10 per head and the cottage charge is P70.
2. In the middle of nowhere!
AGAS-AGAS BRIDGE
Located at Sogod, Southern Leyte
It is considered as the “Tallest bridge in Bridge in Philippines”. It is a bridge that connects the two mountains that allows the vehicles to safely pass though. It was also built to avoid perennial landslide area during heavy rains. You can enjoy the zip line in it!.
3. Divine Diving!
Leyte Dive Resort and Adventure Tours
Located at Malitbog, Southern Leyte
Leyte Dive Resort offers great muck diving for macro enthusiast at our local dive sites. But also there is wonderful wall and drift diving with beautiful hard and soft corals, visibility is good year round. We also have excellent night diving at Malitbog Pier and the house dive site. We also offer Whale Shark Tour which you’ll be able to swim with the gentle giant of the sea. They offer great macro and muck diving with several local sites, specializing in this activity. One of our sites called, Little Lembeh, as the name suggests, is a great site for macro. Here you will find nudibranchs, seahorse, mimic octopus, and other strange creatures.
4. Wildest of all the wild!
MAASIN WILDLIFE AND NATURE PARK
Located at Maasin, Southern Leyte
The sprawling forested area has a man-made lake and contains one of Southern Leyte’s tourism hubs: Maasin Zoo and Adventure Park.
One of the specialties of Maasin Zoo and Adventure Park is that the animals are not kept in cages but separated from the spectator by “natural” barricades.
5. The Limasawa lagoon!
BITUON BEACH RESORT
Located at Limasawa Island
Its like virgin resort. You can experience jumping in the rocky hill and a floating raft. You can find also an underwater cave. Limasawa lagoon has everything can offer. Limasawa lagoon is located in limasawa island.
