Alvord, Iowa — The summer celebrations continue this weekend, when the town of Alvord holds their annual festival.
Alvord Days begins Saturday morning with breakfast at the Alvord Community Center from 9:00 to 10:30. From 9:00 to 3:00 is the Church Flea Market, featuring 45 vendors and several food trucks.
11:00 Saturday morning marks the beginning of the Alvord Days Parade. If you’d like to have an entry in the parade, but haven’t pre-registered, you’re asked to register Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 at the Alvord Fire Station.
Water Fights will begin at 1:00 pm in front of the Alvord City Office, on Main Street. Also beginning at 1:00, there will be yard games and inflatables at the City Park.
The Fire Department Burger Feed will take place from 4:30 to 7:00 pm. From 5:00 until 8:00 you can dance to the music of a DJ at the Beer Garden, with karaoke to follow from 8:00 until midnight.
Lester Softball League will play at the Ball Diamond beginning at 7:00 Saturday evening. Capping off the festivities will be the Daniel Boon Memorial Fireworks Show beginning at dusk.
