Whitchurch is a lovely town on the famous  River Test, and the gateway to the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Whitchurch is perfect to visit for a day or to use as a base to discover other areas of Hampshire and the New Forest.

When visiting Whitchurch, as well as visiting us at the Little Chapel, you can pay a visit to the famous Silk Mill, grab a warm Coffee and Cake at Kudos Coffee, and stretch your legs on a walk alongside the river on the Mill Trail.

The Little Chapel

The Little Chapel, Whitchurch is an old Particular Baptist chapel built by the Hyde family, owners of the Silk Mill around 1885.  Now the building offers a place to find vintage treasures and collectables, pop-up shops, events and creative workshops.

Whitchurch Silk Mill

Whitchurch Silk Mill is an iconic part of the Town and shrouded in local History. The Mill building dates from 1815 and the owners started manufacturing Silk soon after. The Silk Mill is a working Museum and welcomes visitors every day except Mondays.

The Mill Trail, Whitchurch

Whitchurch is a Mill Town. Once a working mill was located along the River Test every half mile through the town. This scenic walk of up to 7 miles takes in a number of attractive and historic mill buildings along the famous River Test.

The River Test

The River Test is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and like a Mecca to the Fly Fisher. A Chalk Stream with crystal clear waters , it is easy to spot Brown Trout in the River and other Wildlife. The River rises near Ashe and meanders South for 40 miles to Southampton. It boasts one of the richest fauna and flora of any lowland river in England.
