Bay Horse

This is my local pub which should be the best in the area but lets you down by its poor celler management.The pub says there are three guest beers plus the regular Tetley cask .When the beer is on it is normaly in top condition,but they never seem to have cask for more than a couple of days at a time.I have had all kinds of reasons why there has not been any on from we are cleaning the pumps this at four pm as people are arriving for evening meals, he might put it on later was the reason between christmas and new year.The food here is second to none in this area but i like a drink of cask when i go for a pub meal and am to often let down so we now go elswere where we know we will get what we came for.I would have marked this pub very high but for the lack of attention the manager pays to the bar or his cask drinkers

This pub is in Thornton village and is in a large catchment area.Trade has not been good for quite a few years mainly due to the poor standard of the beers.The pub says that there is a choice of three guest beers and the house beer (Tetley)but i have yet to see this for real, although i dont use the pub at weekends as we go elswhere where we know what beers will be on and in good codition.However the food side has been just the opposite as we have always enjoyed our meals which are very reasonably priced.

Recommend the food here (my nephew used to work here so I can vouch for its quality) and they do real ale, although the standard of the beer can be variable and the choice predictable. Nice setting at the rear of the pub if you fancy eating outside.

Tony and Cath, the landlord and landlady at the Bay Horse, are just fabulous. They really care abiut their customers, and their caring trickles down through the rest of the staff here. The Bay is a true local, and a joy to visit.
