Off the beaten path of US Route 36 outside of Brookville PA are a few signs for the Coolspring General Store. The signs grab your attention with such things as 2 cent candy, and Historic Old General store. My curiosity got the best of me so I made the side trip to the sleepy little town of Coolspring PA. Upon entering the small village you can't help but notice the old General Store right away. An Old Gulf Oil sign is attached to the front of the building, along with the old time general store storefront.
Upon entering the store you are immediately taken back in time. Old wood floors that creek as you walk on them, Candy in glass containers for yes you guessed it 2 cents a piece. And some classic General store items. This place appears to look the same as it did in the 1950's, and still has its charm. They also appear to serve Ice Cream, Milkshakes, and Banana Splits.
Overall this is well worth the 2 minute side trip off of US Route 36 to check out this small classic General Store.
Keep in mind this is a cash only establishment.
