Gronau

For me this is one of the best butcher shop in Essen. It is very clean, tidy and bright. All the offering is nicely presented. The service is quick, efficient and very friendly.
I especially like that almost all of their meat is from farmers from the region. Even their lamb rack is from Germany and not from New Zealand. If you ask the staff they are happy to tell you about the origin. Most of their sausages and salads are homemade. If you're looking for dry aged German rib eye or striploin this is the place to go. The beef is really incredibly good.
Gronau is expensive but worth every penny.
