Old Down Inn

This place should be called The ODD Down Inn. It has a good deal in its favour like good value meals and real ale but has a very strange layout. The public bar looks pretty traditional and cosy but the saloon bar has strangely positioned tables including one in an alcove which looks like a store cupboard. The landlady seems popular with locals and appears friendly yet seemed unable to make eye contact which I found most disconcerting. While I was there, two separate people had to go to the bar to ask for table service. Some of the decor harks back to a more sexist age. Where's Alex Polizzi when you need her?
