The area and cottage were absolutely stunning and peaceful, with breathtaking scenery. The cottage was well-equipped and had lots of information on nearby attractions. Walking by the river and the 5-mile circular walk were highlights, with amazing wildlife. The locals were friendly and saying hello was a pleasant surprise. Reading Carol Graham's book gave a vivid picture of the area and admiration for the farmers. The drive across the moor had spectacular views and hopefully, the refurbished hotel there would be open. The Derwent Arms had great food and views. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was brilliant, and there was plenty of space. The two toilets and bathroom were a joy to use, and the views from the sitting room were beautiful. The cottage's location allowed for daily walks in St John's Chapel. The rooms were spacious with pleasant views. The efficient heating was appreciated. All facilities worked well, and the Wi-Fi was good. The wood-burning stoves were a treat, and the garden provided nice outdoor space. We would definitely stay again.

We had a fantastic stay in a beautiful area. The cottage was well-equipped and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was peaceful, surrounded by stunning scenery and wildlife. We enjoyed walking along the river and exploring the nearby attractions like Raby Castle and Durham Cathedral. The local people were friendly and welcoming. We also loved the book provided, which gave us a wonderful insight into the area. The drive across the moor to Langdon Beck was breathtaking. The views from the sitting room were amazing. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was brilliant and user-friendly.
It would have been better if there was a TV.

I recently stayed at this beautiful cottage in a peaceful area. The cottage itself was well-equipped and had plenty of information on nearby walks and attractions. I particularly enjoyed exploring Raby Castle, Locomotion, Durham Cathedral, and Corbridge. The highlight for me was taking a walk by the side of the river, where I saw a variety of wildlife. The friendly locals and the opportunity to read a compelling book about the area added to my experience. The drive across the moor to Langdon Beck was breathtaking, and I also enjoyed visiting the Derwent Arms at Edmundbyers for great food and stunning views.
No complaints 😊

The cottage itself was small but cozy, and the kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed. The location was also great, with beautiful countryside views and plenty of nearby walks to enjoy.
There were a few drawbacks to our stay. there were some issues with the cleanliness of the cottage.

The pathway to the door was a little slippery and uneven and we didn't use the decking, which also looked slippery. There was some noise from the road when heavy traffic passed but this was infrequent. However, that didn't dampen our stay at all! We were thrilled with the beautiful rolling countryside and garden views from the holiday home. It felt like stepping into a picturesque painting, with lush greenery stretching as far as the eye could see.
Slippery pathway and uneven decking.

Great value for money, comfortable and well-equipped cottage in a beautiful village. The location was peaceful yet conveniently close to attractions. The friendly staff made our stay enjoyable.
Breakfast delights could be improved with a wider variety of options.

the cottage was well-equipped and had lots of information on local attractions. The highlight for me was taking a walk by the river and the breathtaking scenery on the 5-mile circular walk from High Force to Low Force. The people in the area were friendly and welcoming. The cottage exceeded my expectations and I would definitely stay again during Valentine's Day.
Slippery pathway to the door.
