10 areas in Cagayan record zero COVID cases


CAGAYAN -- Ten towns in the province have registered zero COVID-19 cases.

These are Aparri, Buguey, Calayan, Camalaniugan, Iguig, Gonzaga, Sanchez Mira, Sta. Praxedes, Sta. Teresita, and Sta. Ana.

The Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO) reported that there are only 61 active cases in the province on Tuesday, March 1.

Only the city of Tuguegarao recorded three deaths on Tuesday, after the province also recorded zero deaths on Monday, Feb. 28.

Since the pandemic started, the province has recorded a total of 59,395 COVID -19 cases, 56,898 recoveries, and 2,436 deaths, according to the CPIO.

In the entire Cagayan Valley region, the provinces of Isabela, Cagayan, Quirino, and Batanes have been placed under the most lenient Alert Level 1 from March 1 to 15.

However, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) said Nueva Vizcaya will remain under Alert Level 2.

The Nueva Vizcaya IATF said the vaccination rate in the province should increase for it to be downgraded to Alert Level 1.
