Kolkata: Two minors, whose sacrilegious Facebook post triggered communal violence in Baduria and Basirhat of West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas districts last July, are now in the custody of a Hindutva outfit in Kolkata.

Hindu Samhati, a right wing organization, have taken responsibility for further education after they were released from a government juvenile home on December 18. The two minors, both 17, were granted bail on December 16.

The Court has directed to get them admitted in school. “The two minors, were in Class XI after their tenth standard Board examinations ahead of the communal violence. They are in my custody as they cannot go within 50 km of their home. They need to get admission in some other school. This is mid-session. We are trying to get them admitted and do not want them to lose a year,” Tapan Ghosh, the founder of right wing outfit Hindu Samhati told Mumbai Mirror.

The court has been informed about it. “Our lawyer Brajendra Nath Sil had submitted before about the proposal. The parents had given consent and had signed in the plea. They guardians had come to me and kept their children in my house,” Tapan Ghosh said.

The address of Tapan Ghosh, along with consents signed by their guardians, have been submitted to the court.

Hindu Samhati will take the responsibility of their schooling as their studies have been disrupted after their arrest in the last seven months.

Communal violence had broken out in North 24 Parganas district’s Baduria and Basirhat. Communal tension had erupted following an "objectionable" Facebook post by a student. Two students were later arrested. One of the young boy's house was also burnt down.

Dozens of houses and shops of Hindus and Muslims were vandalized and almost a dozen police vehicles were gutted down in the communal violence on July 2 and continued for three to four days in extensive areas of North 24 Parganas.

In July the police initially produced both of them in a court. Hindu Samhati fought the case for them and proved that they were juveniles. They were shifted from jail to juvenile shelter after it was established in court that both were minors. School leaving certificate of one of the boys was recovered from the vandalised house in Baduria.
