BURR OAK, Kan. — UPDATE: MARCH 29, 2022, 9:00 PM: Crews continue to work on a fire north of Burr Oak, according to the Jewell County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said multiple fire agencies continue to work on the fire, and many wooded areas continue to smolder.
While to highway did reopen, officials are still asking drivers to avoid north Kansas Highway 128.
According to the Webster County Sheriff's Office, Highway 78 was closed from Highway 136 to the Kansas state line just after 4 p.m. Tuesday. Nebraska 511 showed the road closure in Nebraska.
Smoke was visible from the fire on radar, and the fire was also showing up on satellite images Tuesday afternoon.
