Happy Friday, neighbors! It's been a busy time lately, and I'm looking forward to the weekend. Here's a glimpse into what's been happening: Crime enforcement: Early this morning, officers from the 3rd and 4th districts teamed up with ATF to execute a residential search warrant near Lockwood Drive. This operation was the culmination of a months-long investigation initiated by 3rd District officers, sparked by intel about a heavily armed CDS distributor in the area. After extensive surveillance, which included a night where the suspect discharged multiple rounds from a rifle, officers seized hundreds of capsules of crack/cocaine, an assault rifle, and other incriminating evidence. The suspect is now, under arrest, facing multiple felony charges. We are proud of these officers and commend them for their bravery in removing a dangerous felon from our community and potentially saving countless lives. Youth Empowerment through Sports: Our recent 5-week Futsal tournament, organized in collaboration with Caty Angel, the director of the Long Branch Community Center, was a tremendous success. Initially planned for 4 weeks, its popularity led to a one-week extension. What started with a modest turnout grew to nearly 40 enthusiastic teens, some even suggesting we make it a weekly affair. This event fostered strong community bonds, and we're excited to plan more such initiatives to empower our youth. Drug Take Back Day Reminder: Tomorrow, April 27th, is Drug Take Back Day. I'll be at the 3rd District collecting your unwanted prescription pills. Please note that we can only accept pills, NOT syringes, liquids, or ointments. Remember, our station has a collection box in the lobby available year-round, 24/7, for your convenience. Wishing you all a restful and rejuvenating weekend ahead!
