After introducing the municipality of Calasiao in Pangasinan where my dad was born, let me introduce the municipality in Camarines Sur where my mom was born… Canaman.
Canaman is a fourth-class municipality in the province of Camarines Sur with 24 barangays. Here are some of the tourist spots:
Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church – commonly known as Canaman Church. It was founded in 1583 and considered one of the oldest churches in Camarines Sur.
Lagaylay – is an old tradition originated in Canaman which reenacts the finding of the holy cross by St. Helena and her female entourage. It is celebrated every May 3-11 wherein ladies perform 2hours of song and dance in front of the holy cross for 9 consecutive nights.
Kinalas and Baduya – the most popular food not only in this municipality but in whole Camarines Sur. Kinalas is their local version of mami – noodle in soup base and baduya is maruya in tagalog – banana coated with flour.
