Watch Johnny Marr and the Last Shadow Puppets Cover the Smiths

The Last Shadow Puppets are currently on tour behind their album Everything You’ve Come to Expect. At their show last night in Manchester, they were joined on stage by a very special guest: Johnny Marr, with whom they covered the Smiths’ “Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me,” as Rolling Stone points out. Marr played guitar while Alex Turner sang. They also performed the Fall’s “Totally Wired,” Consequence of Sound notes; Miles Kane sang on that one. Watch them play both songs below.

Coincidentally, Smiths drummer Mike Joyce was in the crowd for the show. He wrote on his Facebook that the man standing next to him leaned over and said, “Seen the guy on the right with black hair? That’s Johnny Marr, the guitarist from the Smiths and this is a Smiths song they’re playing.” Joyce said he couldn’t say anything. See his post below.
