Alabama walked away from their season-opening contest against No. 14 Miami a winner, but they lost a vital piece of the defense: redshirt senior linebacker, Chris Allen.

Allen went down in the second quarter and left the field, not returning for the remainder of the game.

Today, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban spoke to the media and made Allen’s inability to return for the rest of the season official. He suffered a fracture in his foot and will require surgery.

When Allen left the game, sophomore Drew Sanders came in as his replacement and finished the contest with six totals tackles.

Saban promptly named Sanders the replacement for Allen, and if you’ve seen Sanders’ high school highlights you’re likely very excited to see what he can do on this level.

Roll Tide wire wishes Allen a speedy recovery and will continue to publish updates regarding his health and his estimated return.
