Ex-Student distributes Sanitary Pads to Female Students

An ex-student of Glory Model College Aramoko Ekiti, Mrs Oluwakemisola Ifedapo Osadola has distributed over 200 Sanitary Pads to female students of the school as part of her commitment to ensuring that the students remain healthy and safe in school.

She made the donations to the management of the school on Thursday during her visit to the school which is located in Aramoko Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti West Local Government area of Ekiti State.

Mrs Osadola who was the pioneer Senior Girl prefect of the school said that the gesture was aimed at preventing female students from running home during their Menstrual cycle since many of them cannot afford sanitary pads on their own.

She noted that the students would miss important academic activities while being pressed to go home by their monthly flow.

” I have observed that most female Students stay at home during their Menstrual period because of the same or inability to afford a sanitary pads to keep them safe and healthy in School. Most of these girls will miss classes during their Menstrual period which eventually affect their performance in school because of the fear of stains on their uniforms” she stressed.

In a talk organized for the students, the guest speaker, Mrs Lola Aluko, a legal practitioner, stressed the importance of personal hygiene for the girls; saying that carelessness on their part could make or mar them for life.

She advised the students on the use of reusable sanitary pads ,adding that with reusable sanitary pads, the girls can convieniently attend school during their period days without any fear of getting their uniforms stained

Mrs Aluko used the medium to call on parents to always sensitize their female children on how to manage menstrual period so as to prepare their minds ahead of the time.

The School Proprietor, Pastor Gabriel Olaniyan appreciated the gesture of the alumnae for giving back to her school, describing it as first of its kind since the establishment of the school.

He used the opportunity to implore other alumni of the school to tow the same path of giving back to their alma mater.

” I am particularly happy today to witness this. Osadola was the first Senior Prefect of the school in year 2001 and I am happy to hear that she is now a lawyer and a University law lecturer”, he added.

The Senior Prefect of the school, Oseni Ekundayo thanked Mrs Osadola for donating the pads to all the female students, praying that God will continue to bless her.
