Saldanha is a seaside village nestled in the northern corner of Saldanha Bay. The town is situated 152 kilometres north of Cape Town on the West Coast. It is a picturesque harbour town and houses a naval training base.
It is known for its export of crayfish, fish, mussels, oysters and seaweed. Its holiday homes, overlooking South Africa’s largest natural bay, are quite popular.
Walking along Main Road towards the harbour you will come across a variety of well-preserved artifacts in the form of ship anchors, a historic canon and a whale skull.
