Don’t call it a comeback … or, wait … do call it a comeback? Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman made his triumphant return to the rap game recently. The 25-year-old pitcher appears on Mike Stud’s latest single “Shine,” which was released Sunday.

On the track, Stroman raps about pitching in Toronto, his work ethic and his appreciation for his family. As far as athletes-turned-rappers go, Stroman ain’t bad. We’ve definitely heard worse. Don’t believe us, take a listen for yourself … just keep in mind the song features some NSFW language.

Stroman has the first verse, which starts around the :45 second mark. Not bad, right?

Then again, we shouldn’t act surprised. This is not Stroman’s first foray into music. Last January, he appeared on the Mike Stud song “These Days.” Stud and Stroman have a bit of a history. Both played on Duke’s baseball team together. Stud, whose real name is Mike Seander, didn’t make it in the majors, but he and Stroman remain close. Fun fact: Seander posted a 1.61 ERA as Duke’s closer in 2007. The more you know!

Now that Stroman has two singles under his belt, it’s time for him to take the next step. The mark of any great, young rapper is their ability to drop a hot diss track. It wouldn’t be hard for Stroman, either. The lyrical possibilities are endless when you’re working with a name like Rougned Odor.
