Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai in Niger State is set to graduate no fewer than 6,154 students at its 4th combine convocation slated for Saturday, May 20, at the Abdulsalami Abubakar Convocation Arena, Main Campus, Lapai.

The Vice Chancellor Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Lapai Professor Abu Kassim Adamu while briefing newsmen in Minna on Monday as part of the activities lined up for the convocation, said out of this number, 5,719 are undergraduate students while 435 are postgraduate students.

Professor Adamu disclosed that out of the 5,719 undergraduate students, 37 of them came out with first class, 954 with second class and 3’283 with second class lower, while 1’538 came out with third class degrees.

He pointed out that 17 students were withdrawn from the institution due to poor academic performance while seven others were shown the way out of the University for Gross Misconduct as the institution, he maintained has zero tolerance for indiscipline.

He also disclosed that during the convocation, the institution will confer Doctorate Degrees on the Plateau state Governor, Simon Bako Lalong and three other eminent Nigerians which include the father of the Niger state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello and Chairman, Mainstream Energy Solutions, Colonel Sani Bello (retd); Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters (Honoris Causa), Malam Ibrahim Aliyu, Chairman, Aliyu Trust Foundation: Honorary Doctorate Degree of Entrepreneurship Development (Honoris Causa), and Alhaji AbdulSamad Isyaka Rabiu, Chairman BUA Group: Honorary Doctorate Degree of Business Management (Honoris Causa).

He stated that the choice of the recipients was based on their track record of achievement in their various fields of endeavour.

Professor Kassim Adamu who was optimistic that IBBU was one of the best 35 chosen universities across the country, said all the Courses in the institution are now fully accredited.
